Feature requests & roadmap / Re: Version 0710 release date
« on: November 29, 2007, 01:18:46 pm »
The status is that nobody knows exactly.

It will be released when it's released and untill then it's little use to start a new thread about it every few days... ::)

lOl! I've seen that quote before :-D
Just teasing. Im sure It will be soon :-)

Quote from: 3DRealms
The release date of DukeNukem Forever is "When it's done".  Anything else, and we mean  anything else is someone's speculation.  There is no date.  We don't know any date.  If you have a friend who claims they have "inside info", or there's some game news site, or some computer store at the mall who claims they know - they do not.  They are making it up.  There is no date.  Period.

must admit, this is the 1st bad publicity I've seen, and basically this guy talks out of his ass.

« on: October 17, 2007, 03:32:10 pm »
can you maybe send me that script. I have to set my volume in alsamixer every time i reboot.
The reason i never set my volume over 75% is because the RMS vallue for a sinus wave between 1 and -1 is always 0.707. Over that you pick up noise that is visible on a oscillator. going over 0.05 does not make a big difference. The amp volume i never take over 25% 1.) I feel too sorry for my speakers, and 2.) the neighbors will start to hate me :-)
This rule of thumb does not apply while watching TopGun. Then the speakers need to play a little and loosen up again :-D

Users / Strange error

Hi All,
I created a play list, then clicked on edit.
After about 3 minutes the following error came up:

Now it might be worth noting.
I have 1.5GB Ram
and a 4GB swop Drive. I really do not think Memory is the issue here.
The admin website seems really slow to work with...

tschak909, that is an awesome idea!
I've been wondering about how to use the filter / search option with a nokia. Dont see any option for it, and to select the correct episode of farscape between the 20 other tv shows added to my media center is becomming a bit of an issue.

Hi Richard!
Godd to see a fellow south african. I have searched for irda devices as well, and think that we will have to import them. Perhaps we can do both together, or perhaps even try to get a couple of orders to save on import costs.
I was thinking of buying that one from sybaritic without checking if it is compatible. good thing i checked this thread!

I have shown the  vid and my setup to a couple of guys, and have converted solid Microsoft guys to Linux. WinMCE is a toy compared to LMCE. This is the perspective going around...

Divx 6 has this menu fuctionality built in. I only found this because I took a bunch of my movies that was spanned over 2 x 700mb files to join them. In the windows divx player it then brings up a menu to select which part you wanna play. I'm going to try and get the codec upgraded to version 6, and then i just hope that with the wrapper and xine engine it will allow for the menu section to be displayed. somehow i doubt it, but its worth a try...
In windows, when an external video player like windows media player classic plays the divx6 file it calls an external menu app for the selection.

For those who are interested in this:

Typically your x configuration (xorg.conf) will have something in that looks pretty much like this:
Code: [Select]
Section "Device"
Identifier "NVIDIA Corporation NV43 [GeForce 6600]"
Driver "nv"
BusID "PCI:4:0:0"
Option "TwinView" "False"
Option "TwinViewOrientation" "RightOf"
Option "UseEdidFreqs" "False"
    Option "SecondMonitorHorizSync"   "UseEdidFreqs"
Option "SecondMonitorVertRefresh" "UseEdidFreqs"
Option "MetaModes" "1280x1024,1280x1024; 1024x768,1024x768"
Option "UseDisplayDevice" "CRT"
Option "ConnectedMonitor" "CRT, CRT"
EndSection

just update it to look like this:
Code: [Select]
Section "Device"
Identifier "NVIDIA Corporation NV43 [GeForce 6600]"
Driver "nv"
BusID "PCI:4:0:0"
Option "TwinView" "True"
Option "TwinViewOrientation" "RightOf"
Option "UseEdidFreqs" "True"
Option "MetaModes" "1280x1024,1280x1024; 1024x768,1024x768"
Option "SecondMonitorHorizSync" "28.0-51.0"
Option "SecondMonitorVertRefresh" "43.0-60.0"
Option "UseDisplayDevice" "CRT"
Option "ConnectedMonitor" "CRT, CRT"
EndSection

I have not fully tested this, but do not think that it will cause any trouble...

Which application is used in the wrapper that display media files like AVIs or MPGs? Is it xine or kaffiene?
I will get this working and create a WIKI for it. It will be great if we can play DIVX6 files. For those who are interested, the libs can be obtained here:
DOWNLOAD:http://download.divx.com/labs/divx611-20060201-gcc4.0.1.tar.gz
MORE INFO:http://labs.divx.com/DivXLinuxCodec

It does contain an API, and developer documentation, so we can do some tweaking. But seeing as this is fairly old, im sure it has been incorporated for xine as well as kaffiene by now

When people ask me about LMCE, and what it does, i simply reply everything except for making coffee (but they are working on the coffee plugin)
It seems however this is becomming more true every day!  ;D ;D ;D

Feature requests & roadmap / Re: Better Media Organization / Browser
« on: September 26, 2007, 02:19:40 pm »
While we are on this topic. Im am rather happy with most of how it works now. the filters work great, but perhaps some more filters will work.
For instance:
I have roughly about 40K mp3 files.
Database has populated with all of this.
BUT:
When I add a new movie, and add the attributes it gets a little slow.
Genre and title specific. If i click the attribute Title, it populates the combo/dropdown box with every single title from my music collection. Same with Genre.
It would be much better if you can have a parent level, for instance audio or video, and then have parent specific attributes. so if you select audio, the dropdown will only display titles or genres from media that is audio, and then the same goes for video.

I think I wanna try my hand at programming a front end for handbrake. Comming from a .NET and c# environment, I'm thinking this cannot be too hard to figure out. Perhaps it can be build in such a way to be executed from withing LMCE. Will look at how things fit together. It can then either be executed from the on screen orbiter under advanced, or from the admin website?
