Sounds a great piece of work.  When you get a spare moment I would be interested in what has changed from old to new N8x0 version,  as I use the old N8x0 version with my Dianemo S system right now, and most functions work just fine.

The old build will not work correctly with some of the new UI screens in the Dianemo & RedLine skins. That's the main difference.

All the best

With the LinuxMCE version, you are unable to use the Internet Radio functionality that Andy described in another post, you can't use the UPnP browser screens (if you tick the appropriate box in web admin) and you can't browse videos on the "Dianemo" skin because the Orbiter will just complain about "Bad GotoScreen". This is one of the main reasons why I prefer a Web Orbiter frontend, like the RoamingOrb or the Dianemo iOS Orbiter instead of a complete Orbiter on the device itself - the complete orbiter can lag behind a lot, as it won't get updated each time the code needs to be recompiled. I have a small patch for ScreenGen to avoid the need of recompilation each time you add a new screen that doesn't need any extra handling in code, which I'll submit around later too.

I've started work on committing the stuff for the Nokia N800 and N810 Orbiter. You can follow progress here: ticket #1523.

I'm leaving your old stuff alone for now. There's a README file in my commit with instructions. Feedback appreciated.

Please use this thread: Nokia N800 easy build for comments. Thanks.

Would Dianemo software work with Bell Satellite in Canada and can I add links from web streams like RT news, City TV or vodcasts? A nice feature request would be create something like PseudoTV used in XBMC.

If Bell Satellite services are encrypted and require you to use their Sat PVR/Receivers then you would have to use that hardware and IR control the Sat box(s) and route their video through something like an HDMI matrix (no problem at all). As to Web video streams we don't directly support those in the Orbiter currently. However you could have XBMC machines on the LAN side of your NC and use those to achieve that capability (XBMC also is a great uPnP end-point).

Would LMCE be used to build the movie database and then use XBMC to pull the information via UPnP or the other way around?

has anyone been able to interface with sur guard receivers yet for third party monitoring.

Hi Andrew,

do you think it is worth to try the Philips SmartTV and should their DNLA standard 'Simplyshare' be compatible with Dianemo.

Thanks

Hi Heinz,

I wish that I could give you a definitive answer regarding the Philips SmartTV & DLNA. But I can't. Unless we have tested a particular model or range of models it is really I impossible to be sure that they will work 100%. The main areas of variability are file type support, remotely pushing media to the TV and to a lesser extent navigating a media servers folder structure.

If your reseller will allow you to test a Philips TV for a day or you have a friend who has a similar model then that would be the best way to decide.

Current SmartTV's from Sony, Panasonic and Samsung are being used successfully by other Dianemo users.

We have added support for Sony IP controllable TV's & BluRay Players. The Sony BDP-S370 BluRay Player and the Sony KDL-32EX723 Internet connected TV have been used for testing but we expect that all other current Sony internet connected BluRay players & TV's should also work.

- Sony IP Controllable BluRay Player Template is #2020
- Sony IP Controllable TV Template is #2021

As usual please follow the procedure outlined on the Dianemo S wiki page to update your system with these and any other updates.

All the best

Hello Andrew,

After seeing this post I went out any got a Sony IP controllable bluray player.  I have the device template added but it wont control my player.  I'm assuming it's because you have to register IP remote controls with the player.  Can you tell me how to register Dianemo as a remote control?

I saw the register command, I set my player to register a remote then click test for the register command but nothing happens.  Any tips would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi there. I can answer this one. First, I apologize for not including the Sony IP remote package in the repositories :-[ I added them now. Please do a software update and then reload the router so the device starts.

Then, to register with the BluRay as a remote, put the BluRay in registration mode, then, in the devices tree of the admin website, select the BluRay player device you added, on its page click the "Send Command" link at the top, and then send the "Register" command. The BluRay player should then confirm the registration and everything else should work.

Cheers
