Been looking at these for a while.  With multi core and the ram they have they are much more viable than the rpi even as an MD.  J.

I apologize. I know it is trying when "that project" gets mentioned in these forums.
But with my current deployment, I utilize both together.

And I know I shouldn't, but until I have more time to work with phenigma on moon pi, this is the best, economical solution for me.

LinuxMCE still runs my house. Controls my lights, my climate, my media distribution and my telephony. The orbiter is the control interface to pretty much everything we do, including my 4, 6, and 7 year olds. Sometimes the 4 year old plays with the lights too much, he likes the floorplans I have for my house, and he likes to tap all the little light icons, but eventually we find what room he is hiding in, and correct the issue. So simple a 4 year old can work it.

I just watch videos on different interface.
And last night I spun up an Intel nettop MD, so I can start playing around in LinuxMCE 12.04.

The future is bright. And can only get better.

I will refrain from posting about "that other project".

My best to all you people, and especially you Thom old buddy.

I dont mind it. It gives me something to target. Like it or not, XBMC has become the standard for HTPC's. So i just wanna do it better

I ran MisterHouse in my home for over 6 years...  I cut-over to LMCE for most automation stuff just under a year ago, and still haven't quite replicated all the capabilities I had with MH on LMCE.  I'm currently writing drivers to address some of them, and then will look at some other stuff that's bugging me; I'm just hitting things in the priority of "pain points"...

Each of these OSS projects has their strengths and weaknesses.  And a little competition, even in Open Source, isn't a bad thing...  It helps drive innovation and creativity.  Being Open Source, it means that good ideas can be easily portable to more projects, if those ideas align with the goals of the projects.

CuBox-i is powered by the i.MX6 chipset.  Freescale seems to do a good job of providing docs and code for these i.MX6 chips.  It is probably the best ARM platform for linux at the moment (imho). 

That being said, you can get your hands on a Wandboard now if you wanted to experiment with that chipset.  http://wandboard.org/ 

A gstreamer based player would be needed to get accelerated video decoding.  I think the graphics driver is there already.
