Mythtv / DVB Problem in .42
« on: November 15, 2006, 10:29:39 pm »
Since upgrading to .42 my dvb drivers are no longer loaded automatically i.e. /etc/init.d/dvb is not invoked.

When starting the drivers manually, everything seems fine however If I try to watch a channel as soon as I get signal lock the following error messages are displayed on screen.

Code: [Select]
Failed to Reinit Video

and

Error was encountered while displaying video

Upon checking the mythbackend.log I see the following errors

I deleted all cards and video sources etc, re-added dvb-s card, rescanned the transponder and still get the same errors.  The channel is FTA so not sure why it is complaining about CA.

Using Twnhan DVB-S card.

Problem only encountered since the upgrade to ver .42.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

After much playing around I decided to revert to using VDR for my satellite viewing, however that is also broken so it looks like the .41 to .42 upgrade has caused some big problems with the dvb drivers.

I think I will download a ISO version of .42 and give that a try.  Can I backup the media database and restore it without problems if I perform a fresh install ?

Having a look at the pluto packages I have also noticed that the pluto ivtv implementation is based upon version .60 of the ivtv drivers.  Are there any plans to update these to the current .80 version as they have fixed a number of issues relating to capture cards and mythtv also make use of these improvements.

[Offtop] VDR configure

Hi NOS,

Could you post somewhere, please, a brief instructions how to configutre VDR in the Pluto? Let's imaging that we have a core and one MD, where I'd like to watch TV.

Thanks in advance.

NOS,

Also getting similar problems to yours. Tried similar things to you with no success. I have two cards in the backend a DVB. The cards seem to setup as devices OK but trying to watch from an MD I also get the Failed to reinit Video message and have actually had it freeze up a couple of times.

Anyone actually got MythTV working in 0.42?

Darren,

Thanks for confirming the problem, I have mythtv working ok with an analogue card although mythtv loses focus so you have to keep pressing the mouse button to gain control after watching live tv and navigating some menus.

I have also noticed that pluto's implementation of ivtv drivers is outdated and the latest version of mythtv makes use of some of the later features.

What DVB cards are you using

Cheers

Hi,

Noticed the first message was missing a word or something when I re-read it.

Anyway, the backend has one DVB-T card which is a Winfast DTV1000 T.
It also has an Analogue card in it which is a Pixelview PlayTV Pro. I can't manage to see if the Analogue is working as I can't get the frontend to do much at all except report a failed to reinit video error.

Will try and play around a bit more when I get some time.

Regards
Darren

Darren just to let you know I have now raised a formal bug report using mantis

Issue number: 3062

@nite_man
I will try and write some instructions when I manage to get VDR working again.

Cheers
