CHT has a proper device template already in their Dianemo/Cascade systems for the Denon AVR2310 rs232 control using their 'bash' serial control rather than ruby... I remember Andrew and posde had discussed bringing this template functionalilty to LinuxMCE but at the time no one was using the 2310 in LinuxMCE to test, this may be a good opportunity to do that. Just a suggestion...

Well our bash style device templates have been available for some time - and we have dozens of customer systems with multiple Denon's controlled by it too.
The current template we use supports Power On (from standby), Power Off (to standby), Mute, Vol up/down and Input Select. The template responds correctly when the MD goes into sleep mode by sending the Power Off (to standby) command...if an IR remote button is pressed, or the MD is remotely controlled from another Orbiter, it will be woken up again with Power On (from standby).
We'd be very happy to help someone with a Denon 2310 (or another rs232 controlled Denon model) update the current Denon template so it uses our bash code instead of the ruby code. We don't want to break the existing Denon template blindly in 0810. If we break it, we'd like to do so with a working bash version!
So if b4rney contacts me via PM we can arrange to do some tests with his 2310 & 0810 installation and get the template working correctly...and then we will get those changes into the svn for everyone else to have some fun with.
All the best
Andrew
