Users / Re: HDHomeRun DVB-T version....
« on: May 11, 2010, 09:32:29 pm »
Hi guys,

any updates on HD HomeRun DVB-T under 8.10?
I'm thinking about buying this nice piece of kit for my LMCE setup to get Freeview HD in UK.
Does anyone know if any modifications are needed or would it just work straight from the box with MythTV?

thanks.

Installation issues / RAID issues
« on: April 28, 2010, 02:25:21 pm »
I'm trying to configure software RAID array using two 2TB disks (/dev/sdc and /dev/sdd) under LMCE WebAdmin GUI, but something doesn't look right too me...

It builds the array without any problems, 'mdadm --detail /dev/md0' looks fine and so as 'cat /proc/mdstat', but when it finishes it doesn't actually mount the drive (ARRAY - /dev/md0) anywhere. During the setup I've selected 'public' as a directory structure and assumed that it will automatically mount new created partition under /home/public, but it didn't do that... Does it mean that I have to modify /etc/fstab file manually and decide where do I wan't new partition to be used?

I've also noticed that when I go to Automation -> Device status, both my drives (/dev/sdc and /dev/sdd) and 'Software Raid 0' devices have "**RUN_CONFIG**" in their status column. Does it mean that something else has to be configured... something that I'm missing perhaps?
Also... when I go to Automation -> Device status and then go into my 'Software Raid 0' device and view details of 'Software Raid 0 #1854' device template: configuration file for this template (Configure_1854.sh) doesn't exist on my system for some reason. I've looked under /usr/pluto/bin and I can't find it...

I'm running LMCE version 8.10b installed couple of days ago using network installation.

I would appreciate any feedback.

Installation issues / Re: Newbie -> iMON Pad and VFD
« on: July 01, 2009, 11:40:49 pm »
So you'll need to do exactly the same thing...

Re-compile lirc to at least 0.8.4a version. As far as i remember that's when support for iMON pad starts.

When you do that, make sure that lirc creates two lircX instances under /dev. To check that execute this command:

ls -al /dev/ | grep lirc

you should see something like:

...
/dev/lirc0
/dev/lirc1
...

and that's the problem. iMON 0038 creates two instances of /dev/lircX.

Now you'll need to modify LIRC_DCE code and change default command that executes lircd for each remote from:

/usr/local/sbin/lircd --driver=default --device=/dev/lirc0 /etc/lirc/lircd.conf

to something like:
/usr/local/sbin/lircd --driver=default --device=/dev/lirc0 --pidfile=/var/run/lirc0.pid --listen=8765 /etc/lirc/lircd.conf
/usr/local/sbin/lircd --driver=default --device=/dev/lirc1 --pidfile=/var/run/lirc1.pid --output=/dev/lircd --connect=localhost:8765 /etc/lirc/lircd.conf

(read about multiple remote controls supported by lircd)

I hope this will help.

Krys, any of them in Alpha Blending?

I just found this: http://www.sparkle.com.tw. It looks promising...

Low profile in gx520 is a limitation for me.

What cards do you use? fx5200/5500/6200 ?

Users / PCI card for UI2 ... possible?
« on: July 01, 2009, 08:34:32 pm »
Yesterday when I was clearing my cupboard (I keep tons of IT junk in it) I found almost brand new and unused Dell Optiplex gx520 and I though that I could use it as my Media Directory, but... it doesn't have any sensible slots to connect good graphic card. It has only one PCI slot!!

Hence my question... do you know if any PCI cards (I would like to stick with nvidia) would run UI2 smoothly? I was thinking on getting GF 5200fx but it has to be low profile as well!

Nice PC but crap slots inside! What a bummer!

What version of iMON do you have?

I own 15c2:0038 (IR/LCD) and it's a trouble maker...

TO get this one going I had to manualy build lirc and LIRC_DCE from lmce source.

Have a look on my post: http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php?topic=6724.msg55615#msg55615

Hi marcel.

I had similar problems after upgrading from 710 to 810. I'll try to explain what I did to get rid some of them.

Asterisk Manager Connection Failure
Failed to connect to the Asterisk manager through port: 5038

- check your /etc/asterisk/manager.conf file and make sure that the following options are set correctly:

enabled = yes
port = 5038
bindaddr = 0.0.0.0

you might need to restart asterisk if you made any changes: /etc/init.d/asterisk restart
- check your /etc/amportal.conf and make sure that:
AMPWEBADDRESS=
- now try re-loading FreePBX

Could not reload FOP server
Could not reload the FOP operator panel server using the bounce_op.sh script. Configuration changes may not be reflected in the panel display.
I believe that FOP is not included in standard LinuxMCE installation (it wasn't in mine anyway). Normally it should be located in /var/www/htdoc/panel. At the moment I'm trying to add this option manually to my lmce 810 to get rid of yellow warning "OP Panel" button in FreePBX GUI and this error message.

This one is tricky. There is two ways to solve this problem. You can either change apache to run as asterisk in in /etc/apache2/envvars or what I did:
- add www-data to asterisk group:
adduser www-data asterisk
- change folder permissions:
chown www-data.asterisk -R /usr/share/asterisk
- and add two additional lines at the end of /etc/amportal.conf file:
AMPASTERISKUSER=www-data
AMPASTERISKGROUP=asterisk

This is just a warning message. I think it's just a matter of changing user name and password in /etc/amportal.conf and in mysql database (using phpMyAdmin for example). I'll post an update when I do that on mine.

I hope this will help.

Installation issues / Re: LIRC with rebuilt kernel- working!
« on: June 14, 2009, 10:11:52 pm »

I've managed to get my iMon 0038 working on 7.10 by updating Lirc to 0.8.4a (and 0.8.5 as well) and re-compiling LIRC_DCE with additional options. It's not the best solution but it worked fine for me.
What I did is basically hard coded commands to execute lirc in LIRC_DCE. By default LIRC_DCE executes this command to start lircd:
Code: [Select]
/usr/local/sbin/lircd --driver=default --device=/dev/lirc0 /etc/lirc/lircd.conf

and because iMon 0038 creates two devices: /dev/lirc0 and /dev/lirc1 I've decided to change it to:
Code: [Select]
/usr/local/sbin/lircd --driver=default --device=/dev/lirc0 --pidfile=/var/run/lirc0.pid --listen=8765 /etc/lirc/lircd.conf
/usr/local/sbin/lircd --driver=default --device=/dev/lirc1 --pidfile=/var/run/lirc1.pid --output=/dev/lircd --connect=localhost:8765 /etc/lirc/lircd.conf

I need to find a better way of solving this problem...

Installation issues / MPlayer won't play HD files in 8.10 alpha 2.22?
« on: June 14, 2009, 09:48:36 pm »
Hi guys,

I finally managed to find some spare time and install 8.10alpha on one of my spare disks.
Until now, I was using 7.10 which was quite stable - only few little issues.

So far I've noticed that my LMCE won't play any HD content from HDD. I've tried HD DVD (I've copied it onto my HDD) and few .mkv files and every time I try any of them, I get:

- .mkv files (after forcing it to play via MPlayer by changing 'Type' option of this file to 'LinuxMCE HD-DVD'):

Any news about DVB-T version and Linux MCE 7.10?

Is it supported/difficult to setup?

I had that problem on my LinuxMCE 7.10 as well.

This message indicates that your ARP cache table if full basically. You could either change the size of it (increase it) or find out what is causing this problem.
To change default size of ARP table you need to do the following:

Code: [Select]
echo 1024 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/neigh/default/gc_thresh1
echo 2048 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/neigh/default/gc_thresh2
echo 4096 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/neigh/default/gc_thresh3

On my system it was caused by nbtscan used by StorageDevices_SambaRadar.sh script.
Basically nbtscan scans the whole local network for active IP addresses on the network, it tries to communicate with each IP and ARP is catching it and storing in cache table. Because I've changed my local network from 192.168.80.0/24 to 10.10.0.0/16 it was scanning the whole /16 network, thats 65536 IP addresses...

What I did (which is not a great solution!), I manually edited /usr/pluto/StorageDevices_SambaRadar.sh script and changed the following line:

Code: [Select]
IntNetwork="${IntIP}/$(netmaskLen "${IntNetmask}")"
to

Code: [Select]
IntNetwork="${IntIP}/24"

which will force nbtscan to scan only /24 network
