This will require a dual-layer DVD?
yes.

Oh shit, I need a way to automatically inform me of such vital information. Where do i get a DVD-DL media now. It is 22:01 in Germany, all shops near by are closed :-( The whole day, I walked thru computer superstores, but did not think about getting such a DVD-DL. I need to be more connected and check the forum more often. (Hey, this is another reason for moving to a mailing list  ;) )

Have a good day everybody.

i got a statement from samsung germany that the rs232 port is only for service maintenance.
It would be great if the codes would work.. it's the only missing feature from the M86/87 series.

Do you have a chance to test the connection using the supplied information?

Users / Send Command Turn On to MD
« on: December 19, 2007, 01:50:14 pm »
Hello,

I want to turn my MD on from remote. It works from within an Orbiter to turn the MD on. However, if I send a Command On to the that orbiter, it does not get turned on.

The MD is a Compaq Notebook seemingly turned on by a Wake-On-Lan or Magic Packet.

Anyone has any insight as to how to turn on that device with a command?

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Regards

Oliver

Hello Dan,

try the manual for one of their plasmas http://www.samsungforbusiness.com/management/products/PPM42M7HBXXAA_RS232_M6H_M7H_Plasma.pdf. I have read that most of the Samsungs understand the same codes

Zaerc,

yes, I have tested it with various bluetooth devices. Plantronics and SonyEricsson headsets being the last ones.

Any specific reason for your verfication question?

@Hari: Thanks for your input. Will see what can be done.

@Zaerc: The problem with all things wireless does not seem to be the size, but the structure of the house. Where in the US all houses on the west coast where not build using brick and mortar, but plywood and what else. Houses around this part of the world are mostly build out of very solid, radio-wave absorbing materials. Most of the time, this causes problems for W-LAN, but in this specific case it is "A Good Thing" :)

Hello Zaerc,

thanks for clearifying the problem.

My experience in houses in Germany indicates no such range problems. I have no bluetooth access outside of each room. It really works only within each specific room.

Is the current orbiter for the Nokias not capable of the automatic follow-up, or should just not be used?

Best regards

Oliver

Hello,

first post in the forum, please be gentle :)

I will use an N800 as an orbiter to control my media directors.

Does the N800 support the follow me function, like other bluetooth based devices?

Best regards

Oliver
