Hi, in my house there is no central climate control unit but instead there is a thermal valve on each radiator in the house. Is any one aware of a solution that can fit straigh on the radiator and be controlled by LinuxMCE.

I would not expect that it excists but I would like to be sure.

I am trying to download the software for a new installation with version 8.10. I want to seperate install kubuntu 8.10 and then linuxmce 8.10. I have managed to download kubuntu but cannot find the download files for LinuxMCE. Do I miss something ? Maybe someone can give me the link.

I want to seperately install it as I am going to test the 8.10 version on a second linux system I have. I want to do this before changing my older installation. The test system I would like to dual boot for the time being as I am only doing some testing in the weekend.

Any suggestion are welcome

I came to the linuxmce website after my brother showed me the comparison video on You Tube. I was considering buying a commercial HD video player. In my eyes this is a brilliant product and I do believe in the strength of a community developed product against commercial developed products.

As not having a huge knowledge of linux it is sometimes challenging. I hope to be able to help out more in the future. Currently trying to document the things I am doing on my system for other new users. I do believe that documentation will prevent the same questions to be asked over and over again, taking time from all members.

I just build my second system with a small hiper case (DVD player size) for my livingroom. I get a lot of interest from everyone visiting the house.  ;D

I am not a developer but for my work I am involved in development as test consultant / manager. If that would be of any help sometime.....

Thom thanks for your answer. You suggestion works. It is a start for me but as you say I would like to find a nice solution for this. The only thing I would like to run is the following command to start Hellanzb:

Hellanzb -D

Would the computing area be able to be used ?

You may want to look deeper and do it the LMCE way and possibly create a data type and be able to us the entries from the data grid.

Tim

Any thoughts on the linuxmce way ?

Hi, I am still working on the option to start a process in the background while running Linuxmce. I quess there must different options. I have looked at starting Hellanzb as a daemon at boot. Have not been successful with this. Is there anyone that could point me to the right wikipage if there is one.

If no page available I am looking to create a wiki page on this. This process must be general to any programm you want to start in the background.

Two options I see are:

1) at boot time
2) through a scenario

Anyone that can help me further ?

Well you definitely do not want to use the i810 driver... you must use the 'intel' driver in xorg.

Andrew

Andrew, the intel driver seems not to support s-video connection. With the i810 driver I have at least my colors.

Can you explain why I would not want to use the i810 driver ?

Is this a newer driver ?

PS. some implementations of this Intel chipset can be made to work without disabling the PSS, as Andrew indicated of platforms like the ASUS eee. However, the Dell laptops are not in that list (D410, 420, 430, 610, 620, etc)

I just created a new core with an intel based chipset 945. Where can I find what have been done to get the ones with intel chip working.

I installed 7.10 RC2 on it and could not select the s-video output and get black and white screen on tv. When selecting the i810 driver throught KDE desktop I got color. Still UI2 crashes and UI2 with alpha blending has a blinking screen. Still I cannot choose the S-Video output in the wizard but the picture with UI1 is very good.

I am willing to test and try anything and report back as I still have my old one running.

If I am only using this core for the media features without additional media directors would the 8.10 alpha version be a good try ?

My new MB is an iBase MB899F. Interesting system using less then 28 watts with dvd player and 3,5" HD. Will create wiki page ones working. looks very similar then the jetway.

Not sure about the settings but if you would look for a file I have the following to share that I always use.

sudo find / -name <filename or part of it with *>
