I also found this

If I could figure out how to remove hulu from the database, then maybe the core will finish. I don't really care about hulu anyway.

Users / Hulu stopping Linuxmce from starting
« on: March 06, 2010, 08:11:23 pm »
After updating (apt-get update, apt-get upgrade) and a few days and a reboot later, Linuxmce will not start. I'm having the black screen and white cursor, but looked /etc/X11/xorg.conf, all fine, and then restarted AV wizard, no change. After checking DCERouter log, the ENTIRE log says this:

01   03/06/10 9:13:05.430      Got a device 46 with wrong device template 2021 <0xb6ce76c0>

I'm assuming that it is hulu since it is the only device I cannot get into (When i check it under My Devices/Core/DCERouter/HULU Plugin, It says Invalid Device ID). Then when I check the device template for 2021, it says ERROR: the device template does not exist or invalid controlled via.

I really do not want to reinstall but if I have to I have to. Any help?

More info please! What mobo are you using, sound card if applicable, connection type?

The only issue I had with the Linkstation was LinuxMCE was writing 0kb files to the trashbox every three minutes which added up and after a while stated to cause skipping during playback, but I never looked at CPU utilization. I had to change settings from Read/Write to Read only on the linkstation whenever I wasn't ripping anything to it. Maybe check that.

I use a Buffalo Linkstation and an internal 500g drive with no problems on either.

The reason I ask is because you state that when you connect with VGA you don't have an issue and was wondering if it is the custom resolution that is giving you issues. Have you tried using 1080 or 720 resolution yet?

I took the system home, hooked it up to the TV and ran the AV Wizard changing to a custom 1360x768@70 over HDMI, UI2 looks great.

Just curious, why are you running this resolution and refresh rate? What do you have it connected to (monitor, LCD)? If your running an LCD and using HDMI, why not use 1080p or 720p for the resolution? The resolution you are using may not be compatible with your display.

Yes you could return the DVD as suggested above...or if you really want to watch and enjoy it on your system use a Windows/MacOS DVD ripping app and create an iso...then just copy over to your media library.

Also after ripping to ISO, remove all previews when ripping (delete up to chapter 47 I think). That will make it work.

Make sure your DTMF mode on the SPA3102 and in the phone setup for extensions on the web admin page is set to inband.

Update. After installing from Beta (great work guys!) still have the skip. I mapped a drive from the NAS on my XP laptop to look at all files on the drive and found 16,572 CHECK_MOUNTED files that were being added by the core every three minutes, as well as files from DVD's that didn't rip successfully, in a folder called trashbox. I deleted all the files and then disabled Read/Write access to the drive and, NO SKIP! I know this may just be a temp fix but finally no skip.

Try turning off then turning back on the firewall.

Don't know if your talking about the latest release (2.36), but I too have the same problem with my networking, specifically the interfaces being swapped (eth0 was internal after install). I have reinstalled a few times and now it is correct (eth0 is external), but still had to disable the firewall for my laptop to access the web( after re-enabling the firewall I can still access the web). But I also have another problem, the core will hand out addresses through DHCP but will not recognize my NAS or my laptops and another PC connected to the core.
