Hello.

Does anyone know if intel 855GME, 915GM or 945 chipsets work well as a  plutohome  'media director'.

Basically, can these chipsets handle streaming HDTV 1080i with dvi and component outputs etc.

Regards...Martin

Hi Martin,

I can't comment on the 855 chipset but we use 915GM and various 945 based motherboards in our Pluto systems and in our experience the boards work very well. As to their graphical performance I can confirm that in general the 915 & 945 on board 900 series graphics chips seems to handle UI1 fine and as of .40/.41 the driver support is there for mpeg2 acceleration for sure  - and playback of DVD/Digital TV etc is excellent. As to there ability to support 1080i/dvi it will depend on the specific motherboard/900 series graphics chip combination.

Hope this is of help to you.

Regards

Andrew
