Hi,

Broadcom Crystal HD looks a good alternative to VDPAU. The card is cheap ~ $24 on eBay and allows to playback HD content on non-VDPAU hardware. XBMC already supports Broadcom, drivers for Linux exists and will be included into kernel soon. MythTV team is also working to support it. So, when Xine will add support of Broadcom Crystal HD we'll able to use it in LinuxMCE as well.
