Revo R1600 HDMI problems
« on: December 25, 2009, 09:26:57 pm »
Dear All,

I read a lot in the forum regarding that mini PC, but i didn´t found the solution.
I am using it like a MD, with Diskless boot over the 8.10 Beta2.
The first thing was it cannot boot up cause the Atheros driver for the wifi, cause i don´t use the wifi, i followed some explanations regarding that done by Totally, i had removed the restricted drivers for the wifi from the diskless image in the core and it works perfectly. At the end it booted up and all is OK, but when i re do the AV Wizard and try to change to de HDMI output, i have no output. When i select HDMI in the AV wizard swith to the input HDMI in the TV and also disconect the VGA cable from the revo, and switch the TV to de HDMI input and nothing appears.

Some sugestions more?

It is a "European version" Revo the Nvidia driver is the 190, i don´t know what can i do more?

To setup the video on the revo the first thing your gonna have to do is have both cables connect the hdmi and the vga, when the av wizard is run the default is vga video so switch to that input on your TV from boot.  Once you have selected the hdmi for your video output right after that you have to switch your tv over to hdmi and then you should see the screen where you have 30 seconds or so to confirm, once confirmed the hdmi will be active all the time there after.

Note for best results i recomend that you use the 185 Nvidia drivers for that unit...

Good Luck

Thanks a lot in advance,

But i think the problems are the drivers, i have another generic PC that doesn't function over HDMI also, in the alpha testing it was running perfectly with the same harware and if i remember well the nvidia driver was 180.
I installed the version 180, but when i boot up again the system checks the version and found 180, until here ok, but next step is upgrade it and the system do it automatic, how can i maintain 180 version?

I have a US version of this- R1600 and as I'm typing this the ui2 non alpha (medium if you will) is regenerating.  I did a update && dist-upgrade and got the latest-   195 with libvdpau...

I have the settings set to 1080p over hdmi at 60hz to my 46" Sony LCD

I've waited to post this until after it generated and I'm trying mythtv right now and will watch a movie next to test.  WAF is exceptional -   She didn't know it was that "Linux thingy" until she wanted to change the channel

if there are any problems when watching the movie. (jumpy, tearing, etc). I will post,  else assume it works perfectly

Ok, at the end i installed it.
The problem was just the Hz i set it to 60 and it should be in 50 for my country (Seems to be like that)
Now i have another problem, there's no audio over HDMI.
Another battle. somebody have an idea?

Tanks in advance

Sorry-   No help with that.   I use a simple 3.5mm connector to my denon receiver... Not 7.1 but also no probs

Btw-  it's working great with DVDs

1 of 2 things for audio if your using 195 drivers

first update your system and get the lastest packages
included in those packages is a fix for hdmi audio, this was done by setting the EDID of the device in the xorg.conf to true
so after your updates check to make sure that is set, and there is an alsa upgrade in there too.

if you still dont have audio over hdmi then i suggest going back and trying 185 drivers this seems to have worked for some people

Good luck
