new hybrid M/B needed
« on: October 27, 2009, 06:09:49 pm »
Hello linuxmce users and developers.

I have checked the hardware in the wiki, but there are no dates and many that i have tried are discontinued, out of stock etc.

I am looking for people's experience with newer motherboards.

I have had a Asus M2NPV-VM for the past 2+ years but it is failing.  Bad LAN onboard and when I disable and put another LAN card in, both PCI LAN cards go missing.

I am using it in hybrid mode and am using the 4 onboard RAID sata/esata connections to an external esata box.

So I am looking something with the same or more PCI slots and RAID capability.

What is the latest/newest motherboard that is both stable and has the features that I need ?

I am using Jetway JNC62K motherboards for my MD's.  They have like everything onboard!  I use them for diskless boot though, if you look in the wiki at my profile you can see them.  I had to tweak the boot thing to get the NIC to work with 0710, I don't know about 0810 but I bet they would work with it out of the box.

The VM is probably a better choice anyway, and is nearly identical:

The reviews seem pretty poor for this board.

I'll keep looking..thanks for the help.

Actually, comparing the specs of that board to my old one means I can use the processor and memory.

It might be a good, inexpensive temporary (for a year or so) solution.

Thanks merkur2k.

Tell me what works and doesn't on this motherboard.  Is 0810 recognizing everything ?
