Dianemo System Update - TheMovieDB Integration
« Reply #165 on: August 25, 2011, 04:21:40 pm »
TheMovieDB - The Enhanced Movie Metadata Web Tool has been released for users to experiment with and can be accessed from the following internal Web Admin url on your Dianemo systems LAN;

http://192.168.80.1/pluto-admin/moviedb/

This is a 'Beta' release of this new tool and its integration & UI are still very much preliminary and a work in progress.

This  update brings in all of the remaining standard pluto devices & packages including an updated usbuirt package and our new FreePBX/Asterisk integration package. There are also updated MythTV packages in this update too... but these are still a little Beta but you should see some improvements.

Please remember that other than for NAS's and GC100 devices the plug-n-play engine has been disabled in Dianemo to remove reliability & mis-detection issues. So this means that device templates will need to be added manually via Web Admin for all other devices.

As usual please follow the instructions on the Wiki page for updating your Dianemo system; http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Dianemo_S10.10#Updating_Dianemo

This update brings the vdpau hardware acceleration API to the libxine package in Dianemo. Libxine/vdpau provides hardware acceleration for h.264 & mpeg4 encoded video providing 1080p capable playback of BlueRay quality video screams. Select vdpau from the Hardware Acceleration pop-up when in the Wizards -> Devices -> Media Directors screen for any Media Manager. You must do a reload router after selecting vdpau otherwise acceleration will not be enabled. Vdpau is only available for nVidia GPU's.

As usual please follow the instructions on the Wiki page for updating your Dianemo system; http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Dianemo_S10.10#Updating_Dianemo

Dianemo System Update - Gyration Media Center Remote Support
« Reply #168 on: September 02, 2011, 05:30:17 pm »
The following updates are available now for your Dianemo system;

Gyration Remotes - this update adds support for the Gyration Media Remote. Plug the Gyration Dongle into your MM and then in the Media Manager page Web Admin select "dev/input HID MCE kbd/remote" Infrared receiver.

Please refer to the Dianemo S10.10 wiki page for details on how to access and use the update script; http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Dianemo_S10.10

Please be aware that when you run the Update script your system may also receive updates for the Ubuntu base OS too (which is perfectly ok... but may mean your update takes longer than expected).

As ever we are always interested in your feedback & experiences with Dianemo.

All the best

Hi Maxofmillions,

The cost of Dianemo S10.10 in the US is £259.94 GBP if paying by PayPal (that is approx. $419.07 USD - but PayPal will do the calculation based on the current exchange rate when you pay). We email you a pair of small debs that you install after installing Ubuntu 10.10 from a LiveCD. See the first entry in this thread here for more details;

http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php/topic,8880.msg60443.html#msg60443

Here is our Wiki page on installing & configuring Dianemo S10.10;

http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Dianemo_S10.10#Installing_Dianemo_S10.10

Let me know if you need more information, have any questions not covered here or need any other assistance.

Dianemo S10.10 - Updates, Upgrades & backups
« Reply #172 on: September 06, 2011, 01:33:15 pm »
This is a quick post to describe how we tackle Updates & Upgrades in Dianemo S10.10 & beyond.

Updates;

These can be bug fixes, feature improvements or sometimes completely new functionality. We release these through our Repos and for important ones we announce them here and via email. Each Dianemo S10.10 system has an dianemo-software-update.sh script that you can execute at any time (and as often as you like) and it will fetch and install any Updates from our Repos and any pending updates from Ubuntu's repos too. We usually suggest that you also run Diskless_Setup.sh as this will make sure that your Media Managers are always updated too.

Upgrades;

These are driven by and linked too Ubuntu OS releases and their schedule. Currently we are slightly behind this curve in that Dianemo S10.10 is still built on top of Ubuntu 10.10 but of course Ubuntu 11.04 is already released. Shortly we will release an Upgrade to Ubuntu 11.04 which will upgrade the base OS underneath existng Dianemo S10.10 installation leaving them with the same Dianemo functionality but the updated OS. This is essentially a 'Stepping stone' update so that all installations are ready to accept being Updated to Dianemo S11.10. Then once Ubuntu 11.10 has been released we will release an Upgrade to Dianemo S11.10 to all existing Dianemo S10.10/11.04 customers. Upgrades to Dianemo SXX.XX will then mirror the Ubuntu release schedule and generally will happen approximately 4 weeks later in each case.

Backups;

From Web Admin you can make a backup of your Dianemo S10.10 installation at any time. These backups can be stored on a separate system for safe keeping and can then always be used to reinstate your system to the state it was in at the moment the backup was taken.

See the Dianemo S10.10 Wiki page for additional info;

http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Dianemo_S10.10#Updating_Dianemo

Anyway I hope the above clears up any confusion in around Updates, Upgrades and backups. If you have further questions then post them here or contact me via IM here on the Forum.

All the best

I assume you do not do media backup, do you?

How do you make sure, that on a restore, all media locations stay the same? If a disk breaks, and I put a new disk in, the serial number changes, doesn't it? Would the media still be correctly identified?

We don't do media backup correct. We just backup the system config.

Its really not that big a deal as long as you have a Media backup then you just restore to your media drive - but most of the time you of course do not need to do that. We don't recommend mixing OS & media on the same partition or physical disc if you can avoid it.

Dianemo System Update - Supports for streaming to iPeng iOS App
« Reply #177 on: September 19, 2011, 04:18:38 pm »
Announcing iPeng iOS App support in Dianemo.

Dianemo now supports the adding of the iPeng iOS App as a Squeeze client. This allows you to add any number of iPhone, iPod Touch & iPad's devices as iPeng Squeeze audio endpoints. These iPeng Squeeze clients appear to be and behave like any other Squeezebox on your system.

Dianemo System Update - Deb Cache Cleanup & Upstart fixes
« Reply #178 on: September 20, 2011, 04:20:53 pm »
Today we have released an updated Dianemo Update script that cleans up the Deb Cache behind itself. This update also includes fixes for the auto shutdown of Media Managers  that was broken by changes in Upstart. Now you can shutdown your NC and it will auto-shutdown all of your MM's too. When you subsequently re-boot your NC it will auto-boot your MM's again for you using WOL.

Dianemo System Update - Virtual Sound Cards
« Reply #179 on: September 23, 2011, 02:36:11 am »
Dianemo now supports the use of multi-channel sounds cards to create multiple Virtual Stereo Sound Cards. The initial support is for the Gigaport-HD 8-channel USB Sound card (others may already work but the Gigaport-HD was used during development). Multiple Virtual stereo sound cards can be created from one or several physical multi-channel cards allowing you to 'dice n slice' the physical cards outputs as required. See the Dianemo S10.10 wiki page for setup info;

http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Dianemo_S10.10#Using_a_multi-channel_sound_card_as_multiple_Virtual_Stereo_cards

As usual you should run the update script as described on the Dianemo S10.10 Wiki page to update your system.

All the best
