Asus eeePC EB1012
« on: August 26, 2009, 08:36:35 am »
Asus has released a eeeBox that runs on the ION platform, so with an Nvidia chipset. In my humble opinion this is the best MD now to place behind a Television screen, they just fit so nicely and have Nvidia graphics.

Well I think it should, because it is the ion platform, and to my knowledge other people have had some success with that platform.

Yea, this could possibly be the best available MD:

Its certainly a very nice machine, essentially the same enclosure as the B202/203 models, but with an Ion chipset/GPU and and a Dual Core ATOM330. However you are paying for a 250Gb hard drive and Windows Vista too...both of which add to the cost of the machine significantly...and are redundant for an MD.

All the best

Maybe more efficient way to build your own nettop based on Zotac ION motherboard?

Well we certainly use the Zotac Ion mini-itx boards in our products and we like those boards very much. However if your not someone who enjoys building your own hardware and you want a clean & simple rear mounted pre-packaged MD then either the ASUS or the Revo are really very hard to beat.

My experience with the b206 is, that it is very silent. Like a gnome farting.

So you are using it with LinuxMCE ?
Assuming the B206 is the Nvidia ION version :)

Hmmm... no the B206 is the ATI variant of the Eee Box....I am actually writing this post on one ;-)

All the best

Andrew

PS all of the current Eee range use the same basic fanned cooling system...and yes it is almost silent and very well engineered.
