TV card Install - Hauppauge 4000
« on: August 07, 2009, 08:14:09 pm »
I have installed a Hauppauge HVR-4000 card into my core (hybrid). I have installed the Hauppauge card firmware and driver. It is using v4l2. To remove any LinuxMCE issues I installed Kubuntu 8.10 without MCE and have had the card working with Kaffeine. I have now re-installed MCE/hybrid (8.10) but during the setup video, the card is not listed as an available device. Should it be? I have checked dmesg output and everything looks ok. I have selected VDR (best for dvb?) which shows a big NO SIGNAL message which I assume is because it isn't aware of the Hauppauge card? Any ideas on what I should try next?

don't worry. It should not be shown.
Just follow the pvr instruction on installing the hvr - if it is supported.

I got my card running- my card is actually only a reduced version of yours- so this should work nicely on your machine.

Hi Cramer,

We have a universal v4l package that should get your HVR-4000 working on 0710 or 0810. This installation side of the package is still a little experimental as it use DKMS to allow it to install on top of any Kernel, but it is stable once installed. Send me an IM with your email address and i will send you the latest version of the package.

All the best
