Hi,

I am just right now trying out the 0810 with my MD. The Core was installed 2 months ago, but updated with "apt-get upgrade".

For more info on my system - see users link in my footer.

Some of the instructions here are still needed :
http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/LinuxMCE-0810_alpha1#Setup_Diskless_MD

>  On core from a terminal run sudo /usr/pluto/bin/Diskless_BuildDefaultImage.sh

without this there is no /tftpboot/pxelinux.cfg/default file

# Boot MD
# Rundiskless setup fails, but the device gets created
# Change md to i386 in webadmin

# reboot MD

Now the Diskless setup was done, but then at the end an error message came on console 8

topic "AVWizard"
message "Failed to setup X"

I then did
#  On the core

   1. Set a password for root on MD
         1. chroot /usr/pluto/diskless/<##>
         2. run passwd.... enter password for root

# From core copy valid xorg.conf from etc/X11 to /usr/pluto/diskless/##/etc/X11

# reboot MD

Did not help :(

Any ideas ?

Greetings
Viking

Hi,

Update to alpha 2.20.

You'll be running Nvidia 180 and generic .14

Cheers.

Hi,

I am already running alpha2.20 (thats the same as 20090515). It also did install nvidia-glx-180

What do you mean with "generic .14" ?

Hi,

uname -r will show what generic you are running.

If you are alpha 2.20 you will be running (should be running) the .14 generic.

You did an apt-get dist-upgrade as well as the apt-get update?

Cheers.

I am just right now trying out the 0810 with my MD. The Core was installed 2 months ago, but updated with "apt-get upgrade".

Please create a new installation. apt-get upgrade'ing a broken an installation (and I would call an alpha installation from 2 month ago broken) will most likely not succeed.

Save yourself some pain, reinstall kubuntu 0810, and do a fresh install of LinuxMCE 810.

Yep, I tried to do the same thing (fix diskless MD creation on an alhpa2 install) and finally just gave up and reinstalled the newest alpha. much easier.
