ceHTML as the future interface for LinuxMCE?
« on: March 27, 2009, 08:33:21 pm »

ceHTML is about to really take off in a number of hardware devices very shortly (can't name names).

What does anyone think about using it for future LMCE GUIs?

You can probably utilize the weborbiter on ce-HTML compatible devices already.

There were several TV's at CEBIT with ceHTML capabilities... to be frank no one seemed too clear why or how ceHTML would be used. Several people said it was a bit like WAP/WML - another dead end industry initiative. I have to say I tend to agree with them.

One of the big names is about to launch products which connect to their own ceHTML portal which brings together content from all the major broadcasters. Will be interesting to see how it fares.

I am not promoting ceHTML in any way, was just interested in hearing if anyone knew anything about it...

Understood Chris...but this seems to me to be yet another attempt at the mobile phone industries 'walled garden' approach to content...and that has been a total disaster for them. People are used to full rich content delivered without restriction...you cant turn the clock back on that...the cat is firmly out of the bag.
