Wiimote - Couldn't find package libcwiid0 (SOLVED)

Hello Everyone... Long time lurker of the forums here and first post today! I have a hybrid setup and have it working mostly now after reading many posts and many months of tinkering. A few more things to get working and the one I'd really like to get working is the wiimote. I have followed the wiki and forum posts and googled a lot, but I am stuck at the first bit... I have SSH'd onto the core, have internet working. When keying sudo apt-get install libcwiid0  I get: Couldn't find package libcwiid0. I have tried sudo apt-get update and get the same result. also sudo apt-get wminput can't be found either. The Hcitool scan does find the wiimote though so the bluetooth dongle I have seems to work.

Any help much appreciated!

sounds to me like something is up with your internet connection. I just grabbed libcwiid0 to test it and it worked just fine for me, your syntax is correct so that just leaves your internet connection in question.

you should be able to ping a website to test

ping google.com -c 3

Hi thanks for the reply. I'm pretty sure that the connection is OK as a load of new pictures off flickr came down... when doing the sudo apt-get update there were some packages where the % went up from 0-100. Some could not update. I'll try the ping tomorrow... unfortunately I have got to go out and drink some beer... doh! I'll let you know what results I get from the ping. Thanks again.

I dont think so, I just checked the link for the wii package and it worked for me.

Hi Everyone... well I have tried the ping and get:

so internet looks OK.

I tried sudo apt-get install libcwiid0 again and still got:

I really cant tell at this point what your problem is, I copy and pasted the exact command from your reply and it worked just fine for me, so I can at least confirm that you are doing it correctly, someone else smarter that me will have to figure out the problem.

Thanks for trying that out Krys. I have a laptop with Kubuntu 8.10 on it. I tried the commands last night and had no joy, tonight I went into adept, searched for wii, installed wmgui and this loaded wminput etc and the wii remote is picked up straight away! I tried the commands from a console from the laptop and it said (obviously) that they were already installed so I then tried from the linuxmce hybrid and it still did not work. Could it be the package list in etc/apt/souces.list? I would attach the file for comparison, but the wife has gone to bed and the core is in the bedroom at the moment and she's getting grumpy about the amount of time I've been spending on linux!

Hi Everyone

Thought I'd give a quick update as this now works! I tried over the last couple of days to get this working with the sudo apt-get install etc... as per the start of this post. Tonight I tried again, except this time when ssh'ing into the core, I did sudo -s first (as I was originally going to copy the sources.list from my laptop to the core, but when this failed with permissions I did some more googling around and sudo -s gave permissions ok). When I did the apt-get update again (after typing sudo -s), I got some "hit" messages for packages that I did not remember seeing before. Then I did apt-get install wminput and this worked and it pulled down libcwiid0 as well. I just followed everything else as per the wiki and now its working! Right, now to get my new usb hard drive on-line and the nova td-500... wish me luck!
