Note: Orbiter = the remote control interface used to control LMCE, not a handheld remote as such. You can use such a remote to control the Orbiter, or a mouse, touch screen, etc. Essentially, it is the graphical menu system on a screen (UI1/2).
Fiire is your best option, however they are expensive and I believe they are only selling them in lots of 100 at the moment due to some shortage or other. Perhaps look for second hand.
Your aversion to Windows is laudable, however perhaps you should just treat it as the utility it is ... a means to an end, and remain aloof! Just get the Gyration, it'll be easier and cheaper.
Standard air mice are usually good, too. You should be able to map the 3 key buttons to spares on the mouse.
