DVD Playback freezes

Hope to get some direction.

When I use my MD in my theatre and play a dvd from the core, throughout the movie it freezes.  This happens to every movie and many times within a movie.  From another thread, I saw a post that indicated to run dmseg and post.  I'm hoping someone can lead me down the right path.  Also, when setting up this MD, it displays AMD64 in WebAdmin when it's a i386, Could this be the problem.

Looks like there is a problem with your DVD drive, it could be worn out or simply broken.

Thanks.  I'll disconnect it to see if the errors continue.  One further question; When I run this command from my MD, is that reporting infromation from the Core?

No, the dmesg command will only show you information of the local machine you are logged onto.

Did not know that.  I will disconnect the dvd on the MD and play the dvd again to see if that helps.

I've just configured the new Core and had some issues getting it up and running.  It's running fine at this time.  However, I continue to get skip and freeze on DVD Playback.  Have been working to resolve this for months and have not found any real solution.

Could it be the SATA Drives in the Core.

When I play DVD on Core - no skip/freeze
When I attach the MD to Core with cross-over cable - skip/freezes many times in a movie

So I've changed the UI from Alphablending to UI2.  I still get freezing on the system with DVD Playback.  I ran the DMesg again and here is what I got.  Now the system does not have a DVD or HDD it's just a PXE Boot MD.  So I'm wondering if I have a HDD in the Core as a problem:  Maybe someone can shed some light.

I've seen these errors when I had another system that had a bad HDD or DVDplayer, however I don't know if that is the case now or what.  If so, it will be the 7th set of HDD's I've gone through.  Any ideas or direction.

I've seen these errors when I had another system that had a bad HDD or DVDplayer, however I don't know if that is the case now or what.  If so, it will be the 7th set of HDD's I've gone through.  Any ideas or direction.

Hmmm... I would suggest getting yourself a cheap 4/8 port switch and connecting your Core's LAN side to the Switch... then connect your MD to another port on the switch. Now with the MD off delete the MD using Web Admin and then power the MD up and have your Core aut-detect it and then add it as you did before. Complete the AVwizard and the setup wizard etc and then try playing the ripped DVD from your Core again. Hopefully this should get rid of the lockups!
