Missing Pipes in Media Director
« on: December 07, 2008, 10:23:49 pm »
I'm trying to hook up my receiver to my Media Director. I followed the instructions here on the wiki page for AV Devices (http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/AV_Devices) I used the nice connection wizard, but I still cannot control the device while watching a video. I know the receiver device is working, I can send the commands from the device in the admin website. When I went into the media director and looked at the pipes, I got the correct input pipes from the receiver, but there are no options in the media director. Is this normal? (I have a screen shot attached)

Nobody knows anything about pipes?

Am I doing something wrong? I was under the impression that when I have the pipes setup, it would automatically send the commands to the device I have hooked up to the pipe to power on and turn to the appropriate input. Is this the case or am I wasting my time barking up the pipe command tree?

I'm trying to get my MD to turn on my receiver and turn it to the appropriate input when media starts playing. I guess I could set this up via an event. Is that the proper way to do this?

Hi, currently there are limitations with using pipes. AFAIK sometimes receiving or sending device has to be of certain type. I'd also agree that if it is a pipe, then it should work with whatever connected, but maybe there is a reason for limitations... So before you dig in, maybe you first try it manually and see in logs whether pipe is actually sending what you desired...

Maybe some of developers will know more about the purpose of limitations...

HTH,

Thanks in advance,
