Multiple Entries in The Video Menu. Solved!!!
« on: November 17, 2008, 01:50:19 pm »
 :(
Ok. So I have my core up and running stable for quite some time now. This morning I go into the video menu, to see if the show I recorded last evening is there. And it is  ;D
However, As I scroll down through the cube, I notice that all of my existing media is ther as well, but there are 6 instances of each ONE recording.

I know for a fact I did not rip The 300 6 times, so what is going on here?

It makes my wife nuts, to select "Children" from the genre tags, and then have to scroll through 6 cubes worth of 4 shows.

Not sure what I need to do to get this resolved. But I need to. I am actually contemplating a complete re-install....

But I am sure its something simple......Right?

Look forward to the forthcoming responses.

Regards,

Seth

Here is an update, and a bit on my current configuration.
It appears to be only happening to media that is existing. For example:
I have a 500G USB external drive with movies ripped to it. They are all under pluto file system management located at

Code: [Select]
/public/data/videos
And an internal disk with old mythtv recordings also under

Code: [Select]
/public/data/videos
On my living room MD.

Here is what I am seeing:

http://wiki.linuxmce.com/index.php/Image:Issue5.jpg

And here is how they appear to me at the webadmin screen (First is the external movie drive, second is the internal, old mythtv drive)

http://wiki.linuxmce.com/index.php/Image:Issue7.jpg

I just don't understand. Now there appears to be even more instances of the single video. Last count was 8 of each title.

I am terribly vexed.

Seth

Drill down on each one using the orbiter. The path to the actual file will be listed at the bottom. Are all of the paths the same?

If so, then I would guess that you may have duplicate Title attributes, shich can be eliminated with the Media Browser in the web admin.

Hmm this is interesting. I have included here a screen shot, that points to something completely wrong:

http://wiki.linuxmce.com/index.php/Image:Issue8.jpg

The drive that holds this video is:

Code: [Select]
/home/public/data/videos/5000AAV_External (sdb1)-Living [247]
Yet this clearly is pointed to:

Code: [Select]
PUBLIC:other/(sda1)-CORE [261]/home/public/data/other/(sda1)-CORE [261]/home/public/data/other/(sda1)-CORE [261] /home/public/data/other/(sda1)-CORE [261]
This would have been true at one time. But I have since then removed the media from "other" and moved all the files into /public/data/videos/

Perhaps I should check to see if the device is still assigned to the wrong place under the core.

Vexed, Vexed I am.......

It appears Jon was headed down the right path. I once again went into the Device Tree for my system, and found the drive sda1 still showing up as part of the CORE's devices. This drive is in fact hooked up to the Living Room MD. I have deleted the device from the core. And now I will run a re-sync, and see what results.

Thanks and Regards,

Seth

 ;D

It has been confirmed. Removing the old drive reference from the core, fixed everything up:

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction Jon.
