just one question. if i have linuxmce in my living room and want to have it in the other bedrooms, which hardware do i need to have (plus a tv, of course). i´ve the official linux mce video, and they use a kind of a device attached to a monitor. what is this device?
Do some more reading of the wiki and forums for information on compatible components.
You'll need a network infrastructure (2 NICS in your core, a router and proper network wiring).
Then you'll need a computer at each viewing area that can network boot off your core. To see the video the computer either needs a nice monitor or a method to connect to a TV (RCA, SVideo, HDMI, etc). For sound you'll need a good set of speakers connected to your computer or perhaps some kind of surround system that you can send the sound to from the computer via RCA, SPDIF, etc.
You'll likely want some way to control the thing with a remote, so look into them.
The "video" was using some Fire Stations, which I believe are no longer available, but there are some "new improved" models based on some other type of equipment. Again, if you did some research in the LinuxMCE site, you'd actually be able to get a complete list of all the equipment used in the video.
I bought a couple of the Via EPIA based machines, similar to what was in the video, only to find that the video drivers aren't up to snuff so those boxes became MythBuntu clients instead of LMCE machines.
You can check out my equipment by following the link in my signature.
