Tee PC tablet as an orbiter
« on: August 22, 2008, 09:41:09 pm »
This tablet looks pretty interesting with a 7" touch screen.  I was just wandering what you guys thought about this little unit.

Well the Tee mini tablet runs Windows CE 6.0 so it will not run the CE Orbiter out of the box. But I can't see why you could not build the orbiter from the sources and port those to CE 6.0. So with some work this unit looks like its viable.

All the best

What about the price? Maybe some UMPC from TabletKiosk will be more appropriate solution for WinXP Orbiter.

Although those tablets on tabletkiosk look quite nice, I think the price is high for an orbiter.  I was under the impression the Tee PC would be somewhere around the $400 range.  The battery life should also be substantially better on the Tee PC then those x86 tablets.  This was another reason for me considering it.  Being able to use the tablet for more then a couple hours without having to put it in sleep.

I just don't know if it will be a very functional orbiter.  Do you think it will lag or have any other serious issues?  I'm planning on trying one out when they are released.  I just wanted to know if anyone thought there would be any trouble.  Thanks for everyones help!

Be sure that its touchscreen allows to navigate using fingers and not stylus only. I saw some modules of Samsung UMPC which do not allow that.

you are referring to "digitizers". You need a pen or other other digitizer "tools" to use it. Most of the newer windows tablet PC's use a digitizer.

Well... we have other similar hardware and with UI1 they work fine with the MK1 human 'finger' ;-)
