Video playback freezing for a couple of seconds for no aparent reason

I have a Hiper-Media MD (very similer to the MSI Media Live) it boots and installes OTB. The mobo is an MSI K9NGM2 which has a Geforce 6150 on board. The MD has and AMD 4800+, 2 gigs of RAM.
What happenes is that while playing ANY video divx or mkv, the video suddenly freezes for a couple of seconds (can be pretty long some times) and then it starts playing again, not from where it froze  but from where it would be if it did not freeze in the first place, as if the video never stopped playing.
Any idea any one?

Good thinking ! haven't thought of that.

I will be adding this mobo to the wiki once I figure out what the problem is.

Well, I played a couple of dvd's on the machine and they work flowlesly, which leads me to believe that the problem might be network oriented.

Look in dmesg.
Do you see a line like "nv_nic_irq, too many iterations..." in there?
What nic card do you have in your core (internal network)?
Is it a nvidia based nic?
If so look for the samt type of problem there.

In my core I have a ASUS M2NVM-DH motherboard.
Had the same type of freezing problem.
I solved it by changing the nv nic to be external and installed a broadcom based card for my internal network.
Problem gone.

Have done a lot of researching about nvidia nics on most places people say they suck and are really bad designed.
This is probably why many mb manufacturers that use nvidia chipset now mount different nics on their mobos.

One suggested workaround is to place an option in modutils.
In file /etc/modprobe.d/options enter the line below. Save and reboot.
options forcedeth max_interrupt_work=15

Afterward look in dmesg and see if you still see the nv_nic_irq line.
