New N770/N800/N810 Nokia Tablet Repository
« on: July 29, 2008, 05:39:08 pm »
Together with Niteman we have put together a new Nokia Tablet Repository for the Nokia N770/N800/N810 that support Bora, Chinook & Diablo OS's;

You can access it here http://diapub.com/~michael/

Just browse to the url above from your Nokia Tablet and then click the link for the OS you have installed.

Also see the updated Wiki page here http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Nokia_N800#Install_the_Orbiter_Software_on_the_N770.2FN800.2FN810

All the best

Andrew

Thanks Andrew and Michael.

When I try to install this I am getting the below error... My OS is Diablo (4.2008.23-14):

Have I missed something? The install file I'm using is this one:
Code: [Select]
[install]
catalogues = linuxmce; extras; diablo
package = lmce-orbiter-installer

[linuxmce]
name = LinuxMCE Nokia Orbiter Repository
uri = http://diapub.com/~michael/repository/
components = free

[extras]
name = maemo Extras catalogue
uri = http://repository.maemo.org/extras
components = free non-free

[diablo]
name = Maemo Diablo
uri = http://repository.maemo.org/
dist = chinook
components = free non-free

We have seen that on some installs too. The simple fix for now is to browse to your 'Installable Applications' view and select 'Extras' and you will see 'lmceorbiter-os2008' listed... click that and continue the install and all is well :-)

Michael is working to iron out this kink now.

Thanks nite_man, much appreciated. I still got an error installing but it appears to be working a treat anyway... ;D

so, is like, nobody crediting posde for his work in this area? I don't think we would have had these one-click install files if he hadn't done something about it.

Of course we are crediting Posde. Our new repos is purely an alternative to his.

We just decided  that we needed a working multi-OS repos ourselves and Michael was kind enough to help us put this together. This allowed us to share it with everyone here in the community.

Try OS2007 or OS2008 Hacker Edition. The OS2007HE works fine with some customization - http://tinyurl.com/6d6pua. The OS2008HE is a bit slowly for 770. But I suspect that using swap can speed up it. OS2006 doesn't support on click installation unfortunately.

Tom, don't worry! We very appreciate posde's work: rep and packaged MS fonts. But it seems he doesn't have a time to manage his rep. I asked him to add Diablo there a couple weeks ago and still didn't get any answer.

The idea is to provide LinuxMCE users possibility to install Orbiter on Nokia Internet Tablet in one click and have ability to update packages and add new ones.

I don't claim to possy :) I just explain the reason why we created alternative repo.

Agree. I asked about it a few months ago. But without lack :)

If you provide me access or give me a contact person who can create directory structure for the repository on the linuxmce.com we can setup repo during one hour maximum. Also it'd be helpful to add the link on the on-click installation to the admin page together with others Orbiter installators.

Hey guys,

I am cool with Andrew and Michael working together. It was just a small thing I created a couple of month ago.

And it seems Andrew and Michael are working together to make the n-itt Orbiter even better. Now all that is missing, is one of them to fix the dial out capability  ;D

Good night all. See you in the morning.
