Using a keyboard to control movies?

This is a rather dumb question, but I couldn't find a list for keyboard shortcuts. When watching a movie for example whats the key for pause? All I've been able to find so far is completely exiting the movie and then restarting from last position. I tried searching the forums here, google, and the wiki with no luck.

I only used a keyboard for a short amount of time, but what I remember it was different between UI1 and UI2.  The trick is finding the correct F key to pull up the menu and using the arrow keys.  It's a hassle, but you shouldn't have to start a movie from the beginning whenever you want to pause.
