Videos that work on core don't work on Media Director
« on: April 16, 2008, 12:09:45 pm »
Hi

I have some dvd's which are ripped on the core and play fine on the core which will not play on my diskless media directors.

Sometimes I get a message that DVD could not be read on libdvdcss is not installed. (Which it is, on both the core and md) Other times the md just closes the dvd before it plays it and takes me back to the menu.

I do have some ripped dvd's that play fine on the md, and they do have the same file permissions as disks that don't work.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Hi,

reading your post I decided to try my self and spotted same behaviour... Have manually installed dvd css on Hybrid and MD, and my ripped DVD (it was ripped long ago under Pluto and worked under older versions) play ok on Hybrid, but not on MD complaining on Orbiter with message that libdvdcss is missing....

He're highlight from Xine log on non working MD :

I have same css situation on both machines :

Quote
dpkg -l '*css*'

| Status=Not/Installed/Config-f/Unpacked/Failed-cfg/Half-inst/t-aWait/T-pend
|/ Err?=(none)/Hold/Reinst-required/X=both-problems (Status,Err: uppercase=bad)
||/ Name                               Version                            Description
+++-==================================-==================================-====================================================================================

un  libdvdcss0.0.2                     <none>                             (no description available)
ii  libdvdcss2                         1.2.5-1                            a portable abstraction library for DVD decryption

Not sure what is wrong, if I looked before on Orbiter it showed as CSS installed, although it wasn't ... Then installed manually, but didn't help with the problem....

Anyone with more insight or confirmation ? It smells like bug.. I've posted mantis thread :
