i got fresh install of kubuntu 7.10 and i'm trying to install mce. if i choose to install lame / libdvdcss it complains that those can't be installed and install is interrupted. if i choose not to install those, i get "couldn't install mysql"

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
dpkg: Breaks: dpkg-dev (< 1.14.0) but 1.13.24ubuntu6 is to be installed
dpkg-dev: Depends: patch (>= 2.2-1) but it is not installable
mysql-server: Depends: mysql-server-5.0 but it is not going to be installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution).

I'm not sure why you are getting these but my recommendation is to install using the DVD (not the dual layer)
