ZWave PC interface - which to choose?
« on: March 13, 2008, 02:51:32 pm »
I am now facing the step of also include lightening in my system  ;D. I now run 0710b4.

I have considered ZWave dimmers/switches.
The old ACT PC-interface (Z101 ?) which was plug and play is not for sale anymore. For me there is now three options:

1) ACT ZCS201 (serial/RS232)
2) ACT ZCU201 (USB)
3) Seluxit viaSENS Home Controller (USB)

The Seluxit is according to the wiki Plug and Play with 0710b4, but I am not shure about the other two. I found a 10 page thread on the developers forum, but I don't really know what the conclusion is. I do not want to make this more complicated than necessary. I consider ACT (USA) as a bigger brand than Seluxit (Denmark) and therefore think it would be the best choice (??). ACT is even about $20/£10 less expensive. Generally I prefer USB over Serial.

Anyone?
amd64, asus A8N-SLI, 2gb ram, 500gb sata ++, nvidia 6800.
TV: Sony KDV-50E2010
nad 761 DD/DTS reciever via SPDIF

do you want a US or an European (868MHz) interface?

For 868Mhz do yourself a favor and get the Seluxit viaSENS HomeController. It works perfect out of the box with 0710b4.
Otherwise get the HA22 as there are successful user reports and there are still issues with the ZCU101/ZCU201.

Hari

We're just about to test a ViaSens Home Controller from Seluxit at Hari's suggestion too - looks like a very nice unit having spoken to the guys at Seluxit.
