PLCBUS

Hey Guys,

Hope you don't mind me doing this, Kevin Lo @ x10-hk.com asked me to post this as he is having problems posting to this forum.
user: Kevin Lo

<SNIP>
Hi All , this is my first post.
I am the owner of Automation@Home ( http://www.x10-hk.com )

I just co-operate with one of the Homeseer 3rd party developer to
develop the PLCBUS plug-in for Homeseer on Nov 2007.
Now I am seeking another HA software for support PLCBUS. And I see some
post on this Linux HA software. But some reply is not 100% correct.

PLCBUS-4808 X10/PLCBUS Transfer Interface , that will act as a 'bridge'
between X10 and PLCBUS.
Two main function :
1) Convert PLCBUS Signal into X10 Signal
2) Convert X10 Signal into PLCBUS Signal
But it will lost the two way communication function e.g. Status Request
, Signal Level Request ....etc
This will only work for One Phase ONLY. If you have three phase power
system and you may be need to add three unit into three different phase.

PLCBUS-T4023UK PLCBUS Encrypted RF Transceiver , it only work with
Encrypted RF remote controller. ( That mean only support S10 China ) and
it will not work for other encrypted RF remote , like security sensor.
In my point of view , there is lack of encrypted remote controller . Now
it only have three
1) X10-4060 Mini Key RF Controller
2) X10-4073 Touch Screen RF Controller
3) X10-1141 RF RS232 Computer Interface <---- Don't use this one for
control PLCBUS , since PLCBUS-1141 is more powerful than this. This only
support Six command , ON\OFF\BRIGHT\DIM\ALL ON\ALL OFF

Some news on PLCBUS
a) In coming few weeks. It will come out PLCBUS-T4022UK , PLCBUS RF
Transceiver. This is 433.92MHz and work with ALL X10 RF devices. e.g.
Easy Touch 35 , MS13E2 Montion Sensor ......etc etc The 1st engineer
sample will arrive on my hand in next few days for testing.

b) In coming few weeks. It will come out a IR Controller that work with
IR Eye. ( IR Emitter
http://www.marmitek.com/en/catalogus/product.php?subgroep=3&product=305
) That is the improve version of PLCBUS-3011.
Since for PLCBUS-3011 , you MUST place the IR Controller at the opposite
side of your IR Device. Example if you want to control your TV by PLCBUS
command. You MUST install this 3011 on the opposite side of TV for send
out the IR signal.
But for this new device ( I don't know what is the model number yet ) it
can plug the IR Eye and just stick the IR emitter on the TV's IR windows
and hide this device in the cabinet. The 1st engineer sample will arrive
on my hand in next few days for testing.

I am not a professional programmer , I just write a VB6 program for fun
to work with PLCBUS-1141.
http://x10-hk.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=22_26&products_id=171

Since some command or syntax is un-documented on the hardware protocol
PDF.
If you have any question on the PLCBUS protocol , please let me know.
May be I can explain to all of you.

Thanks
Kevin Lo

Kevin Lo,

Welcome!

I have already integrated PLCBUS with bidirectional support into LinuxMCE.
It should be in the next Release.

The only intuitive interface is the nipple.  After that it's all learned.

It's a nice change to see somebody who actually wants us to use/support their system instead of charging an arm and a leg for some docu and/or development kit.
