Hello

I'm about to invest in a full LinuxMCE system with an core - MD setup and have made a list over my needs for this system:

MD:
*diskless setup in MD
*HDMI
*ATX
*GbLan

Core:
*Dual GbLan
*storage server
*DVB-s2 cards

I have found these two motherboards that fit my needs:

MD:MSI K9AG Neo2-Digital
Core:MSI K9N SLI Platinum

Is AMD still a no go in Beta 3? I have seen Venom986 in the wiki having some success http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/ASUS_M2A-VM

Any comments? Planning to order this system this weekend.

Thanks for the quick reply!

I was thinking about the AMD chipset vs nvidia and the problems LinuxMCE had with AMD chipset.

I don't think the response was referring to AMD chipsets, it was about using AMD CPUs, which are fine under the different versions of LMCE, but with the 0710 betas, now allow native 64bit mode as well. This works just fine. As for the experiences of various chipsets, you would be well to do some searches on these forums and particularly the wiki. The mobo you mention for the MD is an ATI Radeon video subsystem, so that is what you should search for.

I found this experience: http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php?topic=2670.msg12962#msg12962, and this is what I based my post on. But maybe these problems have been fixed in 0710?

I'm planning building a LinuxMCE system as well, but then in a Core/Hybrid configuration.
Any suggestions on the MB to use for that config ?

Also, What DVB-S2 cards do you plan to use in your config ?

Thanks,

The SATA issues are resolved, but I've given up on MythTV as it just can't get a signal, VDR on the other hand seems to run fine on it.

jawadde: I'm using the WinTV-NOVA-HD-S2. A bitch to setup in Linux, but it's doable.

Zaerc: Ok, as I understand VDR is best at DVB, but it has to be used in a Hybrid setup?

Thanks DTS for sharing. My problem is that this is only FTA, and I want to also receive encrypted channels. Also a twin tuner would be a requirement. Anybody any experience with that kind of setup who can confirm what cards would be working with LMCE ?

DTS

This card is not only FTA, you have to have an extra ci module and cam to read your subscription card.

I have not seen any S2 twin tuner setups btw.
