Rule #1 - Be Patient - Rule #2 - Don't ask when, if you don't contribute - Rule #3 - You have coding skills - LinuxMCE's small brother is available: http://www.agocontrol.com
I was interested in setting up a download mirror for linuxmce, however, I have been unable to find much information on this.I need to know how much BW I could expect to use monthly.Thank you for your time and cooperation in this matter. Thanks,Jim
I disagree about the Torrents. It's a great concept, but the reality is they always end up extremely slooooooooow and can take days to pull down something that should take a few hours. It's like bringing home a fat chick, sounds like a good idea at 2:00 am. But the end results are never good.

But I guess complaining is easier then helping out and carrying your own weight for a change.

But most don't or just can't. Not to mention there are some ISPs that block torrents. The other catch to torrents is people only seed if the are downloading at the same time so it only works well if alot of people want the same thing at the same time. Like I said, the concept is great but their are other factors involved that make it tough to work the way it should. In turn making it a very slow process. If someone has the ability to put up a mirror we should be all for it.

And still the best (not to mention most efficient) way to mirror, is to simply seed the torrent. Having a few good solid dedicated seeders (instead of mirrors) should solve any possible speed issues instantly, better then any mirror ever could.Apart from that, a bunch of people have reported broken downloads from plain mirrors in the past and having to download over and over again, this problem is non-existant with torrents and you don't have the hassle of having to reassemble parts only to discover the md5sum doesn't match.

I have thought of the same thing over and over again! There would be no more slow torrents nor would there be such a big strain on the mirrors as it would all be spread out evenly *and* everybody who downloads it would be giving *something* back, no matter how fast they are, every bit helps... Literally!
