Intel quad processors

I am thinking of buying a new media PC and would like to put a Q6600 in there, while I am at it. Is this supported by LinuxMCE or will it be soon? Is anyone running such a system in their living room? It would be great if someone could give me some good tips on other components that work with the processor and are supported in LinuxMCE.

yeah it should work fine... unless you have a lot of clients using your linuxmce server, I'm not sure you need the extra expense of the quad core. I'd think about making sure you need the q6600 as it draws about 90watts of power. I'm doing fine with an intel 2180 without an overclock. At idle it draws 12 watts and at full power uses 20 to 30.

Hmmm... not really the kind of hardware you really want under your TV!... and I agree you dont really need to go to that extreme. Our Cores are mostly AMD64 4800+'s (64bit dual-core) and they perform excellently.
