Hauppauge in warmstate, and now? And some basic questions.
« on: December 05, 2007, 05:02:03 pm »
Hello

I'v got my NOVA-T-500 in warmstate by now and then it should work to now start watch tv?
But when I go to LinuxMcE or what it is called (atleast it looks like this: http://tagedge.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/03/linuxmce1.jpg )
And then choose TV nothing happends... How can I make the card rdy so I just can press that TV buttom and then choose channel?

And then I have some question about a few things that I don't really understands...
What is Pluto?
What is MythTV?
What is LinuxMCE?
If someone can explain those a little more I would be happy.

Best regards Lehto

Hi,

Looks like MythTV has not been configured properly... I dont use Myth so I cant really help much there. You could search this forum for threads relating to MythTV setup etc. Or wait for someone with MythTV experience to respond.

Now the questions;

Pluto was the forerunner of lmce... it was an open source based home automation system but was built on top of a customised Debian based linux distribution and was designed as a kind of 'black box' solution.

MythTV is a separate Opens source project to develop a linx based PVR (Personal Video Recorder). MythTV is incoprated as part of the lmce installation. There is another PVR called VDR that will be available in the next version of lmce - lmce-0710.

LinuxMCE or lmce is open sources project to build an all encompassing Home Automation or SmartHome System. Lmce incorporates many other open source projects to provide specific functions and capabilities and provides its own User Interface to allow you to manage and control these in a simple easy to understand way.

All the best
