Quick install DVD problem! Blank screen!
« on: November 20, 2007, 11:23:14 pm »
Hello,

  Newby here to Linux...

First off a quick question...  How come there is no option to pick a existing partition to install Linux too?  Only physical hard drives?

And is there an option for that if you use the 2 cd install version?

Ok on to the main problem.

I ran the install and got to the part where you remove the dvd it reboots I get that screen with the blue lines that moves from left to right.
It seems to run ok and then it goes to a blank screen and thats all folks...

Oh and this may be relevent but i saw it switch a few times between digital and anolog...  Could it be a my video card is not supported?

  My system:

Thermaltake "Armor" Tower case with 550Watt PS
Asus M2N32-SLI Premium Vista Edition MB
 AMD Athlon 64 x2 Dual-Core Prosessor (socket AM2, 6000+)
 2x1GB G.Skill DDR2 PC26400 RAM
SoundBlaster Audigy 2 Zs Platnium Pro
EVGA GeForce 8800 GTS (320MB DDR3) video card
 2x500 GB Seagate HD (Sata)
 1x300 GB Seagate HD (Sata)
 Flatscreen monitor (analog input)

Thanks for any help on these issues!

And yes, the 2 cd method has the option for partitioning.
