cant rebuild kernel to facilitate my dibcom based usb dvb stick
« on: October 22, 2007, 01:17:36 am »
hi there all
was impressed with what i read about linuxmce and so downloaded the dvd and first tested in in a virtual machine. it does look good but i allready hit a snag.
i have a very bad dvb card - artec t1 - and the only way i could make it work in linux was through recompiling the v4l driver enabling faulty dibusb chipset (i have detailed the process here http://www.sudhian.com/index.php?/forums/viewthread/96000/ )
i tried to do this on the virtual linuxmce and on the first step of make config it threw errors...
now does anybody knows if i can do this ? do i need to enable root? any advice?

cheers
michel

It might be easier to just purchase a supported DVB-T card or usb receiver. The Artec T1 is based on usb 1.1 so its performance even with working drivers/firmware will not be as good as a usb 2.0 based device.
