DVD-ROM issue
« on: October 11, 2007, 04:59:33 pm »
Hello,

First Topic for me.
I waiting for the install DVD to come via mail, but meanwhile I decided to do the 2 cd install approach.

So many hours of dealing with ATI x700 card...... and after installing the 2 CD LinuxMCE, I am able to see the onscreen menu on my TV in 480p or 1080i. with sound out via stereo output.

One problem...... I put in a DVD in the PC dvd-rom drive and nothing... happens.

Is there something missing.... shouldn't the dvd-drive(s) (I have 2 installed) be recognized automatically?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance.
Misha

I'm not sure if this is actually the issue, in your case.  However, even before discovering LinuxCE, I found out (the hard way) that the ATI drivers for Linux DO NOT support / permit DVD-playback thru the tv-out (svideo) port.  I fought with my notebook, with an ATI Xpress 200m video card for several hours, before I came upon this info...

If the DVD truly does NOTHING, as you stated, I'm not sure if this is relevant, but wanted to mention it in case it is the same issue...

Hope to have helped!!
