Ubuntu 7.04 & 64bit processor support
« on: May 07, 2007, 11:12:26 am »
Reading the existing threads around this forum, I noticed that both are missing. I know (based on those same threads) that Ubuntu 7.04 support is on its way, but found nothing implicating support for 64bit processors. As I have just bought a AMD 64 X2 -based pc as a media server, I'd really, really like to see it supported (kinda selfish, but I'd guess that I'm not the only one with a 64bit processor nowadays). Of course there is always the option of compiling my own, but I'd rather use one compiled by people more knowledgeable of the project.

I have a 64bit AMD 2x and installing Ubuntu 32 bits or Ubuntu 64 bit there isn't a great difference. Its almost the same. So I think its not on the priority list because its not an isue that would make a different. Install de 32 bit version and you wont notice a change in the speed.

I have also installed the 64 bit version of Kubuntu feisty. speed difference will mainly be noticed when editing and converting video.

Hi folks,

sorry for bringing up that old topic, but does the new version 1.1 work on 64 bit-systems? Or do I have to change my system to 32 bit? I couldn't find any information on this...

Cheers
