well, for Marvell is another matter. from what i know, in the linux kernel are 2 or 3 drivers for marvell. i had an issue once with this kind of chipset, because, when i was starting the system, the pnp system in the kernel detected the card but was trying to install one of the drivers which was declared obsolete (by the Gentoo developers
). so, this problem could persist in the present ubuntu kernel.
/later edit
if are trying to boot an ubuntu live cd on the system with marvell card, does it works?
