Installation of WinTV-HVR 4400-HD on Linux

I'm having a tough time at the moment.  Built a multi functional PC (Intel 7i Quad core processor, Kingston 32Gb RAM, WD 1Tb HD, on which I want to run standard terrestrial Tv, HD freeview Tv, and satellite Tv.  It is Linux, Ubuntu 14:04.....  I bought a WinTV-HVR 4400-HD but I can not get it to work.  I am not even sure it is working.  I can not find it and none of the media centre aps seem to find it either.  Can any one help me, please

According to http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Hauppauge it is not supported under Linux
