Media on mobile devices

So Possy and I had an interesting but brief conversation relating to, in a round about way, media on mobile devices.

The facts are this.

1) Bringing media from linuxmce to android is not a small task
*Need to engineer a media streamer (so your device could actually watch the blu-ray rips)
*A whole host of linuxmce plumbing to deal with the 'floating' entertain area.

2)Its still really a concept. While I have proof of concept applications, that let me do this, way to much in the way of smoke and mirrors is used to make it function

So really im asking, is it worth holding up the rest of android development for this feature, or would we rather have a fully working orbiter sans md-ish features.

No because  xine would be nowhere in the pipeline.

For the first version of this, I think we can hold off on trying to do media playback features. For Android and other portable devices, I'm with possy, it's mostly a push feature, and exposing the data over UPnP may be the best way to go for a 1.0

After reading this thread and the thread about upnp/dlna (http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php/topic,13400.0.html)

I installed squeezeplayer on my phone (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.bluegaspode.squeezeplayer) (yes, this can be found for free, search on aptoide)
Created a new room, named after my phone
Connected it to my core using this wiki (http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Squeezeslave_on_the_core)

Now can control Audio playback from any orbiter. So also qorbiter on the same phone, the squeezeplayer program runs in the background.

Just wanted to share. This might be a good idea for people that have an extra tablet or phone to use in the bathroom/bedroom/hallway. Or buy a cheap tablet at DX.com for tis purpose (http://dx.com/p/a13-7-capacitive-touch-screen-android-4-0-tablet-pc-w-tf-camera-wi-fi-g-sensor-white-148468)

I think for audio, nothing beats the universal availability of squeezeslave et al
