Hello all,

In order to completely remove mythv, can I safely...

apt-get --purge remove myth* ?

If so, is there anything else associated with watching TV that I can safely remove?

Cheers,
Matt.

I loaded up KDE desktop on my new install, and remembered this conversation http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php/topic,12233.0.html

Plus we don't ever watch any live TV, so would like to remove myth and anything myth-related to free up some space.

Cheers,
Matt.

In addition you can delete the MythTV Player device for the specific MD in question then if someone tries to access Live TV from an Orbiter they will just get a 'Cannot play that media type' alert on screen.

All the best

Thanks for the reply.

My question was whether I could safely remove myth completely, and was there anything else in addition associated with watching TV that could also be removed. But I will make a clone of the disk and just try it when I get round to it.

But thanks for the tip, I have removed the TV scenario from my orbiters; what I am really interested in at the end of the day is not saving a few MB, rather I'd like to see if it improves the performance of the KDE desktop.

Cheers,
Matt.
