MythTv > HDPVR Trying to set channel?
« on: September 11, 2012, 03:22:34 pm »
this is my first time trying to get mythtv to work so i am not sure if this is correct. i have a cable box and HDPVR. im on version 1004. i am not trying to have linuxmce change channels. Outside mythv i have a "live tv" button on the orbiter that seems to play off the hdpvr just fine so i know the hdpvr is working.

i followed these directions from the hdpvr wiki on mythv.

Enter option 4, "Input Connections." Connect the video source to the appropriate input on the HD-PVR. Important Note: You must set a channel change script for the HD-PVR to work properly. If you don't care about channel changes, you can set it to /bin/true, but there absolutely must be a channel change script defined. Important note 2: You must leave Preset tuner to channel empty or LiveTV and channel changes will not work.

but when i press TV i see this in logs. After that linuxmce suggests i reset the mythtv backend.

I was under the impression that you should use the LinuxMCE Setup wizard (the "Sarah wizard") to setup your HDPVR.

It is my understanding, that the setup wizard is suppose to setup mythtv for the HDPVR as well.

Check IRC #linuxmce - maybe some MythTV and HDPVR user is available for help.

in mythtv setup, are there channels listed under Channel Editor?

if so, check to see if the 'starting channel' is a valid channel on the Input Connections screen for the input of the hdpvr you are using.

I'm running an HDPVR with a satellite box... there is a tunetochannel.sh script in /usr/pluto/bin that can change channels if youve got a sat box that has a template.

I am assuming you have a core/hybrid and you are not on an MD...   if you are on a separate MD, ive found there is always a discrepancy with the uid of mythtv.
