Pluto-mplayer
« on: January 03, 2012, 11:23:35 pm »
I noticed that mplayer and pluto-mplayer isn't installed on any of my MDs in 1004, only pluto-mplayer-player. installing mplayer and pluto-mplayer made a couple of .mkv movies work with both video and audio.
So my question, should pluto-mplayer-player depend on pluto-mplayer and mplayer?

from what I understood linuxmce isnt really using mplayer; it uses xine for all video formats and with the new xine-lib update just about all mkv containers using h264 hd content works great (when using vdpau).  mplayer was left around just incase someone wanted to improve it, but the system supports xine much better and has been setup to use it exclusively...

But someone who really knows ought to correct me.

It may have been that a missing codec was pulled when i installed mplayer then?  :P

Thanks for replaying, BR Daniel

My m2ts files would not play until I loaded mplayer, so I'm not sure everything is setup to run through xine.

My experience is consistent with this.
