Hello, everyone.

After a bit of time away from the Game PlugIn and Player, I've decided to push it a bit closer to the 100% mark of completion by implementing the following:

* Bookmarks

LinuxMCE games can now be bookmarked, using the same facilities used for Audio and Video items. You can save as many bookmarks for a game as needed, and name them as appropriate. The system will take a snapshot with each bookmark, and place it in the bookmarks page. The bookmark will also show up in your currently playing playlist for a game.

See it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2XMjWrJpEEw

In addition, Automatic saving is also done, when you exit a game. The next time you play the game, Orbiter will ask if you wish to resume where you last left off, just like with audio and video. It is also possible to move a game from one media director, to another, and thus Follow Me also works.

See it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHbJ40TrO2A

In addition, Box art has been uploaded for all the currently supported game systems:

* Atari 2600
* Atari 5200
* Atari 7800
* Intellivision
* Colecovision
* Sega SG-1000
* Sega Master System
* Nintendo Entertainment System (NES)
* Nintendo Family Computer (Famicom), Including Famicom Disk System support.

With more to come!

You can see an example of the NES game library here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n0lMzPRNksA

I also did a demo showing the Famicom Disk System support, as well as a little back story on Super Mario Bros. 2, and the REAL Super Mario Bros. 2 (Which ONLY showed up on the Famicom Disk System), here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n0lMzPRNksA

All of the above improvements have been rolled out in the build system, and will be in the next snapshot for 0810, and are already available for the 1004 build.

If you wish to update your existing system, please do an apt-get update before selecting the game player, so that you will be sure to get the latest version.

Enjoy,
-Thom

Also not a Logitech Harmony.
Great work on the Game player, is integration of scummVM and or Dosbox/frontend easy to do?

bongowongo, re: DosBox. If you can put together a mechanism to launch DosBox for a game effectively, as well as a UI that makes sense for Orbiter, then I will do the work to integrate it.

Still lugging that thing around? :P :) and yes, it should work for most game emulations. You'll start to have performance issues when we start folding in Playstation 1 and 2 support though...

No, as it has thermal issues, causing it to cause iratic behavior after a couple of minutes :p

Probably with an automatic curtains motor, which opens the case when the heat is excessive, as to allow the cold oil sprayer to cool the heat sink

This looks very cool. I must admit I haven't looked at Game Player much. I should.

So is all of this game control done via the orbiter?
