DSC alarm panel using PC5401 module
« on: May 17, 2011, 01:49:50 am »
Is it true LinuxMCE supports DSC PC5401 ?

On linuxmce.org web site, I search for DSC and there's not even a single entry.  Same in the wiki :-(

Thank you,
PB

Hi Belanger,
It should work with PC5401 + Power864 (5020).
I connect my PC5401 to a Power585 but I can't make it work.

I have seen a few posts regarding the PC5401. It seems as though there is a non-working template. Do you already have a PC5401 module? If not, the DSC IT-100 is the replacement for the 5401. I myself was looking into getting the IT-100 and taking it from there.  Bugui, have you tried to get help from one of the DEV's? If remote access is not feasible, i have a new panel and senors sitting around that i can lend if someone is willing to supply a 5401 or  it-100 to a willing dev.

I already have a PC5401 but I'm not ready yet to connect my linuxmce box to the alarm system.  I'm just making my grocery list to make sure I don't miss nothing when I'm ready to do it.

I will try with the 5401 and see the results.  If there are issues, I've done programmation in the past so I might be able to figure it out and pass the information back to linuxmce to make sure the changes make it in the distribution.

If I'm not happen with the 5401, I will resale it and order a DCS IT 100.   On DSC's web site for the IT 100 it says : Real-time zone status .  I'm not sure if the 5401 can provide that information.  In the 5401, there's a command to get the status of each zone.  I'm thinking the IT 100 maybe outputs the data to the serial port each time there's a zone tripped regardless if the system is armed or not.  I'm not 100% positive but I wish someone could guide us...

Thank you all,
PB

I didn't try to troubleshooting this with the devs because at this time I don't have the alarm pannel installed.

Panel came with the house, so i am good on that part, im just waiting to see whether i need to go 5401 or go it-100.  there are a couple of plugins for homeseer for both, so its feasible.  i'm just wondering if the existing template for the 5401 can be tweeked to a working status.
