Hi brononi,

look at this picture: http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=11655.0;attach=2337;image. As you can see the Device Number is 105.

I am a Dianemo user and my settings are:
    * Description: ServerName - here you can use what ever you whant
    * Installation number: 114 (couldn't figure this one out, i've also tried the listen port (3463)) - in Dianemo this is a 5 Digit Number - in my case 3xxxxx
    * Device number: 114 - you can see, if you look at the picture, what the Device Number is (on my first try I used the wrong one)
    * User name: UserName in LinuxMCE - in my case this is empty because the username is for secure remote access via internet - I just whant to use the orbiter at home
    * Password: Password for user above - in my case this is empty because the password is for secure remote access via internet - I just whant to use the orbiter at home
    * Nerve Centre IP: 192.168.0.1 (IP of linuxmce) - thats OK

You should also select "Connect locally"

In settings I have set:
Wifi only - ON
Load indicator - ON
Polling frequency - every 2 seconds
Enhanced UI - ON - I do not know if this works in LinuxMCE.

Regards
Johannes

You should also select "Connect locally"

This did the trick.
Not very logical to me, but it works...

thanks!!!

brononi,

when you keep in mind, that Dianemo customers have the choice to connect to their cores from remote locations using a proxy service provided by Cascade, it might make more sense.

Okay, not remotely on network/technical level, but on geographical location... ;)

ps works great...

Just to be clear our Remote Access Service is provided by CHT in fact. Cascade is a discontinued product line.

Hi,
i recently installed the Dianemo iOS Orbiter on my old 1st gen iPhone (iOS software version 3.1.3)
It installs just fine, but after i enter the connection details and hit the icon i get a black screen and it kills the app.
I know i got the right settings because these work on my other iPhone and iPad without a problem (different device numbers).
In iTunes it states iOS 3.0 or higher.
I disabled the advanced UI.

Anybody any suggestions how to get it working?

Raymond

Hi,

We've not had any other reports of problems with older iOS devices under iOS 3.0 or above. Can you describe in more detail what happens? Does the App exit or are you just left with a black screen? Are you sure that you do not have another iOS device using the same Dev ID with the App running on that other device at the same time? You should make independent Orbiters for each iOS device... running two devices simultaneously on the same Dev ID can cause this kind of issue too.

All the best

Hi Andrew,

Thanks for the reply,
This is what happens in detail:
- it installs perfectly
- i set the connection details (with a unique Dev ID)
- i hit save
- i hit the orbiter tab on the tabbar
- the screen goes all black
- the phone returns to its regular icon-screen
then when i want to open the app again, it gives me a black screen and returns to its regular icon screen again.

I also have RoaminOrb installed on that phone (which also not works) that uses the same proxy-orbiter.
but its not running (iirc)
could that be causing the problem?
The phone is out atm so i can't test :(

What else can i do?

Hmm... ok could you create a new proxy-orbiter etc and test against that please? If RoamingOrb also does not work then its likely not to be the App as far as I can see (our code base and RoamingOrb's are substantially different now).

Ok i created a new proxy-orbiter as per:
http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Web_Orbiter_2.0
and entered the top level Device Info #xxx as i did for my other proxy orbiters.
but sadly, on my iOS 3.1.3 iPhone, it still doesn't work.

i hope you have some ideas left :)

Hi Raymond,

I've tested an iPod Touch running iOS 3.1.3 here with the current App and its working fine on a test system here. I also know that we have not had any other reports of issues with iOS 3.1.3 devices. So my feeling is that problem must be in your system somewhere.

Have you tested again with RoamingOrb?

All the best

Hello,
I’m having problems to connect from the Dianemo Orbiter to the Core, from an iPod Touch and from an iPhone4S.
Here are the connection details and my observations:

iPod Touch: version 4.2.1
iPhone: version iOS 5.1.1
Dianemo iOS Orbiter app on iPod Touch and on iPhone: version 1.5

iPod Touch connection settings:
Internal connection - successfully connects
Device number: 46 (iPodTouch – Generic Web Device, resolution 480x320, basic skin
User name: (blank)
Password: (blank)
Nerve Centre IP: 192.168.80.1

External connection – fails to connect
Device number: 46 (iPodTouch – Generic Web Device). Also tried 47: Generic Proxy Orbiter, resolution 480x320
User name: *****
Password: *****
Nerve Centre IP: 192.168.1.62

iPhone connection settings:
Internal connection – connects but initial is slow to respond to touches and then stops responding (progress circle not showing up)
Device number: 52 (iPone4G – Generic Web Device). Also tried 53: Generic Proxy Orbiter, resolution 960x640, basic skin and the iPod Touch lower resolution device
User name: (blank)
Password: (blank)
Nerve Centre IP: 192.168.80.1

External connection – fails to connect
Device number: 52 (iPone4G – Generic Web Device). Also tried 53: Generic Proxy Orbiter, resolution 960x640, basic skin and the iPod Touch lower resolution device
User name: *****

Nerve Centre IP: 192.168.1.62

Is connection trough external interface (within the external lan) expected to work for lmce - non Dianemo installations?

Regards,
Avi

It appears you are attempting to connect your iOS devices via a Wifi access point on the WAN side of your Core. However the wifi access point must be on the LAN side as with all other Orbiters or MD's.
