New Version of the Dianemo iOS Orbiter
« on: May 02, 2011, 11:59:59 pm »
Version 1.1 of the Dianemo iOS Orbiter has been submitted to Apple for approval and should be available from the iTunes App store shortly. See more details about v1.1 and some screen pics here;

http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Dianemo_iOS_Orbiter

The new version supports some nice new features including a new gesture driven tab bar UI that can be shown/hidden using swipe up/down gestures when in the Orbiter view (thanks to Foxi352 for that!), an online help view, together with multiple connection profiles (thanks to Uplink for completely re-writing this part of the App) & support for auto rotation in landscape on all iOS device that support it. If you are a Dianemo user then v1.1 supports secure encrypted remote access to your NerveCentre via Dianemo's remote access portal too and allows you to swap between 'Local' & 'Remote' mode for any number of installations.

The new version is fully iOS 4.3x compatible (it requires a device running iOS 3.2 or above) and supports iPod Touch (3g & 4g), iPhone, iPad & iPad2. The App is compatible with both LinuxMCE 8.10 (and 10.04) & Dianemo 10.10 and is a free download from the iTunes App store.

Please download the v1.0 version if you have not already and you will automatically get notified when v1.1 is available.

All the best

Andrew

Is the source code available yet? I'm becoming pretty decent with SDK and I think I could have a mac version done in a couple hours. I'm thinking just redefine the IB outs and write a new plist for preferences (to take over for settings) Anyway, let me know.

We do plan to release the source for the iOS Orbiter but currently there are issues related to some of the new features inside the App, some forthcoming features and also Apple's developer agreement. I expect these will get resolved but I cant give a time scale right now. The App is free and we will continue to maintain compatibility with both Dianemo and LinuxMCE releases.

As to using the iOS source as a way to deliver an MacOS Orbiter...I would say thats probably not a good approach to be frank. I would suggest you look closely at the the various Touch Orbiter implementations to get a MacOS Orbiter up and running quickly - thats the objective of the Touch Orbiter code base. See http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Touch_Orbiter_-_for_the_CUWIN3500_in-wall_Touch_Panel and search the Wiki for Touch Orbiter to see the numerous implementations that are now available.

The source code of version 1.0 should be at http://svn.linuxmce.org/trac.cgi/browser/branches/LinuxMCE-0810/src/Orbiter/iOS

EDIT: Another option that might interesting for you, Tred, is to use the regular orbiter, and see if you can get that to run on MacOS

Again...I would recommend caution even with this version as Apples restrictions will still apply. We don't want to get tangled up with their legal people...

I thought I saw on the LMCE wiki that the new version is out on the app store.

Are the Canadian app store servers buggered or something? Because I can't see the update.

Yes version 1.1 is up on the App store now and has been for about 10 days. Do you still see version 1.0 ?

Thats Serge's version not ours (although he works on ours too)

Search for 'dianemo' on the iOS App store and will take you to our new 1.1 App with a bunch of improvements and enhancements. See the wiki here; http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Dianemo_iOS_Orbiter

Make sure you use the correct Device ID. See attached screen image - make sure you use the top level device ID ie the device ID in the attached screen image is '105'.

I'm getting the same error, and set the device number as you said.

Installation # I got from webadmin under "show devices tree". Mine for example is 1008637. Wiki says it should be 5 digits (or is that just for Dianemo systems)?

Yes the 5 digit installation id is for Dianemo Systems. Can you confirm that the Web Orbiter is working correctly independently?
